The Lowther Story
The Lowthers have been in Cavendish for decades. Edward Lowther built the service station on Cavendish corner in the 1950's. Edward and Mary had children who ran accommodation and food businesses in the area and some still do. Living and working in this community is in our DNA.
Son Gary Lowther owned a small lot on the land now known as Lowther Heights. This lot was surrounded by farmland owned by a close friend, Brian Stevenson. The plan was to build a small retirement home on this lot. When Brian passed away, the farm was put up for sale. Gary and Linda thought it might be nice to have a little more land and to invite their sons and families, Ryan Dianne and Chris & Melissa. However, because of road access restrictions, their plan to buy a "little more" would need to turn into 20 acres!!!
What to do? Now in partnership with Gary and Linda's sons and families, another generation of Lowthers have created Lowther Heights. We wanted a subdivision with beautiful views and no hassle. We built a road to provincial standards so the Province would maintain it, put all electrical and communication services underground and designed the lots so that everyone has a view. With all of the land across the road owned and maintained by the PEI National Park, no one can build and obstruct the view in the future.
We have a unique subdivision and maintain that we have the best of all worlds. Services and schools are close by. It is quiet in the winter and offers fantastic experiences the rest of the year. Mother Nature provides a different panorama daily for us to enjoy! Come share our love of this place with us! We welcome you!
